Becoming a Promising Peer Reviewer with JTE

When:  Jul 27, 2022 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM (ET)

Why become a promising peer reviewer? Promising peer reviewers are not born, they develop over time. In becoming a promising peer reviewer, you learn the art of peer critique from the perspective of a reviewer, acquire sound approaches to academic writing, become a part of a network, engage recent research in the field, and gain service credit for your professional curriculum vitae. When done well, peer review is a win-win because it sharpens the author’s writing, while ensuring the journal’s vision. A promising peer reviewer has a skill set that elevates the author’s work and thereby the profession.

About the virtual workshop. Led by members of the current JTE editorial team, chief editors Dr. Cheryl Craig and Dr. Val Hill-Jackson, associate editor Dr. Jim Van Overschelde, managing editor Dr. John Williams, and assistant editor Ambyr Rios, this workshop will give attendees an insider's view of the manuscript review process. How papers make their way from thought pieces to publications disseminated nationally and internationally? More importantly, what do reviewers look for in each part of a manuscript? And what constitutes a coherent paper?  All these queries, and many more, will be taken up in this participatory workshop where rigorous real-world examples will form the experiences for attendees.
